We are delighted to announce the launch of our brand new, bespoke, educational materials designed to engage the minds of young Geographers and to support you both before and after your tour to Iceland with WST.
Working in partnership with practising Geography teachers who have experienced an Iceland tour, we have created authentic contextualised resources and assets that will support whole class and structured groups, guided learning and individual activity. Recognising the diverse needs of students, these resources are question rich, and aim to engage students in discussion and energetic debate. They really will extend the educational value of your tour and complement your students’ experiential learning.
There has never been a better time to engage and excite young minds, to build knowledge and understanding and a passion for learning.
These resources have been carefully planned to support pre and post tour activity highlighting clear teaching and learning objectives for students aged 14/16. They also complement the specification for GCSE Geography across a number of awarding bodies. Like our Iceland tour, these resources also have cross-curricular links, most notably with GCSE Science. They will provide an opportunity to develop students' cultural capital, engaging them with a variety of interests, whilst applying what they learn in the classroom to the world around them.
When you book your Iceland tour with WST you will be given access to our resources hub from where you can download case studies and activities. These can be used in class ahead of your tour and then completed either when you are in Iceland or when you’re back in school. You can choose activities that: will most benefit your students; correspond with the places you visit on your tour; will support your teaching and learning objectives.
These resources have also been designed to help you during the initial planning for your trip, providing a clear and effective means to demonstrate to your SLT, the educational benefits and learning outcomes of a trip to Iceland.
You can download a small sample of these brand new resources below.

Take a look at this small sample of our 13-page teachers guide that explains how the visits and resources will enhance students’ learning and boost their subject knowledge.
We have a range of downloadable case studies to take with you as you visit key sites including: Hellisheidi Power Plant; Kerid Volcano; Gullfoss Falls; Þingvellir National Park; and Solheimajokull Glacier.
We have produced an activity sheet to accompany each of the case studies. They are the perfect way to test your students’ knowledge either at the end of a busy day on tour or when you are back in the classroom.
