Our school trips to Spain offer an abundance of fantastic case study topics for students, from Barcelona’s Gaudi architecture to Lanzarote’s Timanfaya National Park. An unparalleled opportunity for Spanish language students to get to grips with their linguistic skills, pupils can explore the cultural hotspots in Andalucía or practise their Spanish speaking and listening at La Boqueria Market.
At WST, our destination experts can help you design a school trip which meets your students’ specific learning objectives. We can also recommend visits that support your pupils’ current study topics, as well as cultural visits where they can enjoy their downtime.
We offer the following brilliant school trips to Spain:
Probably Gaudi’s most famous project, the Sagrada Família began construction back in 1773 and still remains unfinished. Unlike many traditional cathedrals, Gaudi’s use of light and colour sets his epic architectural design apart, making it an unforgettable study visit for pupils. Expected to be completed in 2026, the stunning cathedral can provide a feast of inspiration for art and design students.
A fantastic study opportunity for geography students, Timanfaya and the surrounding volcanic coast have produced some spectacular scenery on Lanzarote. Students can take a fully guided tour around Timanfaya National Park, with highlights including the lava beds as you approach Fire Mountain, the colourful Salt Flats of Janubio and a short camel ride over the volcanic dunes.
For Spanish language students visiting Granada’s Alhambra, the palace and fortress can provide a fascinating insight into Spain’s diverse history. The palace was constructed for the Muslim emirs in Spain back in the 14th century, and its design showcases both Islamic and Christian influences. Students can wander the opulent palace, taking in the beautiful architecture and learning about the reasons behind its construction.
We can help you find accommodation in all of our Spanish destinations, as well as recommend places which previous school groups have enjoyed. In some of our destinations there will be the option to be in coastal locations or in the heart of a city, as well as places which suit a range of budgets, so you can select accommodation based on your preferences.
From tapas to paella, Spanish cuisine is often popular amongst students here in the UK. There are plenty of opportunities for pupils on Spanish school trips to tuck into a few Spanish delicacies while they’re abroad, but we can also help you book school-friendly restaurants which offer a more traditionally western menu too.
A visit particularly popular with students, a trip to the home of Real Madrid is an exciting study visit for pupils on Spanish language school trips. You can take your tour of the stadium in Spanish, giving your pupils a great opportunity to practise their speaking and listening skills. The tour will take you into the trophy room, tunnel and changing rooms, as well as give you the opportunity to witness panoramic views of the stadium.
In the heart of Seville, the Plaza de España is the plaza in the Parque de María Luisa. Boasting a mix of Spanish architectural styles, the beautiful plaza was built in 1928 for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Students can explore the breathtaking square, taking in the lavish mix of mosaic walls, orange trees and water features.
Another of Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces, Park Güell began construction back in 1900 and was officially opened to the public in 1926. Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park is considered one of the best examples of Gaudi’s personal style, taking inspiration from organic shapes and nature. Art and design students can wander the beautiful area, studying Gaudi’s unique architecture while taking in the Barcelona cityscape.
