The Green Gables, Scarborough

Within excess of 30 Years’ experience of providing accommodation to children of all ages, Green Gables provides a friendly environment for school groups and tours.. 

The hotel caters for students of all ages offering full board accommodation normally sleeping 3 or 4 per room while members of staff sleep nearby in single rooms.

Each group receives their own private lounge and full access to the hotel's facilities. Upon arrival they will receive a 3 course meal every evening, English breakfast every morning served to the table and a pick-your-own lunch in our popular self-serve Picnic Bar. All diets catered for.

Located in a quiet residential area of Scarborough next to a public park, the hotel has a heated indoor swimming pool, games room and many other activities for children to use on their visit.

YHA Scarborough has 46 beds in four and six bedded rooms, all with shared toilets and showers.

The hostel is down a quiet driveway, set in a small woodland on the bank of a small river. 

Scarborough Castle 

Dominating Scarborough’s headland, a school trip to Scarborough Castle will help you bring learning to life. Investigate prehistoric and Roman artefacts found at the castle in the exhibition in the Master Gunner’s House, and see the remains of the Roman signal station built to defend the cost. Explore the 12th Century stone keep and the curtain wall and imagine what life was like for medieval lords defending the castle from attack. Sealife Scarborough 

On a school tour of Sealife Scarborough, you can get up close and personal with over 20 adorable Humboldt Penguins in their unique walk-through home, Penguin Island. New for 2020 is the Rainforest Advernture, where you can immerse yourself in the world of creepy crawlies, lizards and rainforest critters. At the Seal Hospital your pupils will learn about the vital rehab work that the centre carries out for seals, injured or lost on this stretch of coastline.

Jorvik Viking Centre - York

The centre stands on the site of the famous discovery of Jorvik, the Viking city. Students on a school tour of Jorvik will get to see remains and objects from fascinating excavations, and journey through a reconstruction of Viking-Age streets, as they would have looked 1000 years ago.

DIG - York

DIG offers a unique archaeological adventure where students can become ‘archaeological detectives’ finding out for themselves what the city of York was really like through the ages, from Roman times to the modern day. 

York Castle Museum

One highlight on a school trip to York Castle Museum is Kirkgate: The Victorian Street. Pupils can explore the life of the rich and poor on this recreation of Victorian life, with cobbled streets, a school room, police cell and even authentic working shops.

York Minster

A school residential trip to Yorkshire isn't complete without catching a glimpse of York Minster. One of the largest cathedrals in Europe, York Minster offers interactive workshops where students can find out about its past and present life. 

Brigantium Roman Fort

Brigantium is a large outdoor classroom disguised as a Roman auxiliary fort from the 1^st Century AD. School groups visiting Brigantium will be recruited into the Roman army and equipped with uniform and dummy weapons. They will then be taught how to build a fort, train as a soldier and will learn craftwork from Roman times. An exciting hands on experience that will really bring this topic to life.

Eden Camp

This museum covers Britain from the 1930’s, allowing visitors to travel back in time to Wartime Britain, experiencing the story, sights, sounds and smells of World War II.
