WEST END THEATRE VISITS


 

West End Theatre Workshops

No performing arts trip to London is complete without at least one of our fantastic 90 minute workshops. Run by experienced professionals, in venues such as Pineapple Studios and 'Dance Works', our wide range covers a variety of skills, and in many cases can be focused on a show you are seeing as part of your trip. Most workshops end with a Q&A with a West End cast member. We can happily create a workshop just for you, just ask us!

Popular options include:

  • West End 101: Student are taught in a fun and relaxed environment, skills and techniques used by professional actors inspired by the themes of the show they are seeing.
  • Stage Combat: Students will learn about the relationship between acting and fight choreography. Discover how fights are choreographed and hone your collaboration skills whilst creating your own combat. 
  • Step by Step: Great fun and highly interactive session that immerses your group in your chosen show's music, provides them with new skills and some serious moves they can perform again and again.
  • Note by Note: A unique experience ran by a West End Musical Director as the group learn to act through your choice of song, before performing it to a cast member from the show itself!
  • Physical Theatre: Introduce your group to a variety of techniques needed to devise inventive physical theatre.
  • Theatre Improv: Perfect for fun and high energy groups! After physical and vocal warm ups, students stay active through team building and improvisational games designed to heighten focus, creativity and sensitivity to others.
  • Audition Essentials: Work with a casting director to really enhance your interview techniques (2 hours).
  • The Director's Chair: An interactive workshop focusing on textual analysis and stage craft, examining techniques for working with actors and staging scenes (3 hours).
  • Song and Dance: Work with a pianist and cast member from a show you are seeing, and reherse a song & choreography to match.
  • Other workshops include, 'Puppetry' 'Shakespeare 2000' 'Make a Scene' and 'Behind the Mask'. Please ask us for details.

KAREN HARDY STUDIOS: 'STRICTLY' THEMED EXPERIENCE 

Run by world class dance teachers, these Ballroom and Latin dance sessions have a ‘Strictly Come Dancing Theme’ and take place at the state of the art studios belonging to the shows winning professional Karen Hardy.  These enjoyable 90 minute sessions will produce a winning couple who will each receive a mini trophy, whilst every member receives a personally signed photo of Karen Hardy.  Refreshments are also included. Tues- Fri mornings only.

West End Dance Workshops

Dance Masterclass 

Whether its ballet or ballroom, flamenco or freestyle, tango or tap - we have the dance class for you! Tell us what dance style your group would like to explore and we’ll do the rest. Based in London’s west end we’ll provide you with a studio and a dance instructor specialising in the style of your choice. Learn about the stylistic features of the dance, the development of techniques and its representation in the west end. Guaranteed to get your energy pumping. Workshops can be Introductory, Intermediate or Advanced.

Workshops

Your students can take part in Lively Action Workshops, that are tailored to the curriculum and explore Shakespeare’s texts practically as a play, rather than as the written word.

Globe Tour and Exhibition

Step inside this faithful recreation of William Shakespeare’s iconic Globe theatre. Imagine it as it would have been at the centre of London’s notorious Bankside entertainment district.

Throughout the year their expert guides bring this extraordinary open-air theatre to life in a 50 minute guided tour, with colourful stories of the 1599 Globe, the reconstruction process in the 1990s and how the building works today as an imaginative and experimental theatre space. Take a seat ‘within this wooden ‘O’’ – listen, absorb and ask questions as the secrets of the Globe unfold
